Opening of the "Bois" exhibition

01.06.24 starting at 14:00

Vernissage of the exhibition "Wood" BREAD DOUGH MOLD Bread dough mold of the Josef Murmann family, Kippel, 1886. The bread was baked in the village oven. The rye flour dough was prepared at home, formed into round loaves and carried to the oven on boards. Here the loaves were pressed into a round, slightly hollowed-out bread mold (Leibsära). This was decorated and also served as a bread stamp. This type of bread form was very common in the Lötschental and seems to date back a long way. The Basel researcher Leopold Rütimeyer found a Leibsära made of stone in the Lötschental around 1900, dated 1642. Discover the "Wood" exhibition on June 01, 2024 at 14:00 in the Lötschental Museum.
